For a few years schools did not require students to take the SAT or ACT for admission. While it is still not a requirement for many schools, some schools are reinstating the requirement. Be sure to take note if the school of your choice has it as a requirement or not. What is the difference between SAT & ACT?
- SAT is universally digital while the ACT is still a paper test for the most part.
- SAT is shorter than the ACT. 2 hours and 14 minutes (SAT) vs 2 hours and 55 minutes (ACT)
- SAT might be for you if—you don’t like science, need more time per question, don’t feel comfortable with advanced math questions, you do feel comfortable with math word problems and data analysis.
- ACT is a good fit if— you love science and interpreting data, charts and graphs is your strength, you move through test questions quickly, and you are strong in math, especially geometry.
